Can my bamboo flooring be salvaged from water damage from dog pee…?
My dog has been peeing nearby the Exercise Machine for a couple mos. and I didn’t think to look under the rubber mat, I didn’t even realize she had been peeing there as I hardly ever use the room. I lifted the mat today and found 2 mos. worth of pee trapped under the mat, not only was it disgusting, but the bamboo floor boards are blackened under the matt…is there ANYTHING I can do, or is it hopeless? I’m thinking they have to be replaced but that will be expensive and at the moment I can’t afford it. UGH! HELP!!!
If the mold/mildew has permeated the bamboo, then no, it’s toast. The discoloration probably goes pretty deep into the wood. You can try a stong solution of Micro-Ban and water and try to kill the mildew (micro-ban is a anti-mold and mildew cleaner). It’s available at most home depot’s and lowe’s home centers. It might help get rid of the “black” stain but discoloration will probably remain.
